| The Season 2004-2005 is now upon us. Lets hope we have
an enjoyable year, after all thats why we all play. The
committee have worked hard during the summer to get this
Season up and running. A big thank you to Mike,Andy, Dave
and Derek for all their work, it's not an easy job and
they put a lot of their own time into the setting up and
running of the league. I would also like to thank all our
sponsors for supporting the league once again and
especially Barry and Dave from MJH Developments Ltd for
sponsoring the league. I hope more people enter the competions this year, as with other years the more entries from a team the more venues that pub gets. There is a schedule for all competitions. Here are my predictions for the coming year. (Don't take them too seriously). Because I never get them right. Predictions for this year. After the Bicton Social Club walking off with a darts and domino league double last, I can't see past the Bicton this year, they are the strongest club by far, with practically two teams one for darts and one for dominoes. The Darts League. The Bicton's nearest challengers will of cause be the Red Lion A, but will this ageing team have the stamina or the desair to really challenge the Champions? Most of them have been there and won the T-Shirt. On their day they can beat the Bicton as they showed last years classic cup final. The problem they have and will always have is that they are still the team to beat. If there is one team you would like to beat in a season it's the Red Lion, not because they are disliked, it's because they have been regarded as the best team in the league for many years. They are the Man United of our League. Everyone want to beat them. As for the others, If the horseshoes have the same team as last year they will finish third perhaps taking a point or two off the top two. The Plough B (Ex Mytton) will be there and there abouts if they could get two more players they could be very close to the Red Lion A. Snailbeach FC will be strong at home as usual. My team the Fatest Team in the League, The Tankerville Arms will have there day. Our aim is to take a point from the Bicton, if not we'll sit on them.(What do you think of that Vaughan?). The Domino League . Again the Bicton comfortably won the league last year and again I think they are the team to beat. The Red Lion B won't be far away and perhaps the team to win the league this year is the Stables Inn. The Dominoes is a lottery anyone could really win the league.
